The eShram Card Registration is a process initiated by the Government of India, specifically through the Ministry of Labour and Employment, to create a comprehensive database of workers in the unorganized sector. This initiative is aimed at ensuring the welfare and social security of unorganized workers, including those who are self-employed, gig workers, migrant laborers, and others.
About e-Shram Portal
The eShram Portal is a dedicated platform launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, to create a National Database of Unorganized Workers (NDUW). This first-of-its-kind initiative aims to capture the details of millions of unorganized workers across the country, including migrant workers, construction laborers, gig and platform workers, street vendors, and others engaged in informal sectors.
The portal is designed to collect essential information such as name, occupation, educational qualification, skill set, address, and Aadhaar-linked details to ensure that workers receive the benefits of various social security schemes. It helps in the creation of a centralized database, which is key to developing policies, extending welfare measures, and ensuring effective implementation of government schemes.
The eShram Card Portal simplifies the process of tracking unorganized sector workers and helps the government design better plans for their welfare, employment opportunities, and social protection. It is accessible online at eshram.gov.in, and workers can register themselves or seek assistance from Common Service Centers (CSCs) across the country.
