The Central Government is now accepting online registration forms for the Gobar Dhan Scheme 2024 at gobardhan.co.in. Originally announced by the then Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on February 1, 2018, the Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resources (Gobar) Dhan Scheme aims to provide clean biogas fuel, particularly benefiting rural communities and women. The scheme focuses on enhancing health and cleanliness in villages.
The Gobar Dhan initiative aims to support the recovery of biodegradable waste and its conversion into valuable resources. This will offer economic and resource benefits to farmers and households while also contributing to the creation of clean villages, aligning with the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin). The Gobar Dhan Scheme focuses on managing cattle dung and converting it into bio-fuel or bio-CNG. This scheme is a part of the central government’s broader effort to “Double Farmers’ Income by 2022.”
Gobardhan Scheme 2024 Portal
The Gobardhan Portal gobardhan.co.in initiative was launched to promote cleanliness in villages by converting bio-waste, including cattle waste, kitchen scraps, crop residue, and market waste, into valuable resources. This initiative aims to enhance the lives of villagers by providing economic and resource benefits to farmers and households.
The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation is collaborating with relevant Departments, Ministries, State Governments, public and private sector institutions, and village communities to turn this initiative into a ‘Janandolan’—a people’s movement for collective community action on Gobardhan.
The Gobardhan scheme initiative is set to benefit rural communities, especially women, by promoting the use of clean fuel, enhancing village cleanliness, and improving overall health. This program supports the recovery and conversion of biodegradable waste into valuable resources, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, decreases the need for crude oil imports, fosters entrepreneurship, and encourages organic farming.
