The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) is a dedicated online platform for the procurement of services and goods by various Indian Government departments, organizations, and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
gem.gov.in portal aims to enhance the speed, efficiency, and transparency of the procurement process, with a primary objective of eliminating corruption.
GeM Portal
The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) program was initiated to transform the public procurement process in the country and promote e-governance through the adoption of digital technology. The primary objective of GeM is to ensure that public procurement is transparent, equitable, and inclusive.
On GeM, each service category comes with predefined parameters, a basic Service Level Agreement (SLA), and Special Terms and Conditions (STCs), which can be customized to meet the buyer’s specific requirements. Currently, the platform offers over 200 service categories. To date, GeM has facilitated service procurement orders exceeding ₹31,800 crore.
GeM Portal Login
Here are the steps to log in to the GeM Portal:
STEP 1: Visit GeM government e Marketplace official website https://gem.gov.in
STEP 2: At home page click on “Login” link.
STEP 3: Enter GeM user ID, Captcha Code and click on “Submit” button.
STEP 4: Enter your PIN, finally your dashboard will load.
Sellers Register for GeM Portal
The procedure for registering sellers on the GeM Portal is as follows:
STEP 1: Visit official website https://gem.gov.in.
STEP 2: At home page click on “Login” link.
STEP 3: Now click on “Register as Seller” link or Direct link https://mkp.gem.gov.in/registration/signup#!/seller.
STEP 4: Select business / organisation type and click on “Proceed” button.
STEP 5: Users should click the ‘Review Terms and Conditions’ button on the next page, read through the document, and select the ‘I have read and agree to the Terms & Conditions of Government e-Marketplace (GeM)’ option.
STEP 6: Sellers should then complete the account registration form with the required information and click the ‘Create Account’ button.
Register as Buyers at GeM Portal
The complete process for registering buyers on the GeM Portal is as follows:
STEP 1: Visit GeM government e Marketplace official portal.
STEP 2: Click the ‘Sign Up’ button on the right-hand side of the webpage and select the ‘Buyer’ option.
STEP 3: Select the User type and check on Aadhaar number, Active Mobile number to which your Aadhaar is linked – for OTP purpose, Active Email Id.
STEP 4: In the account registration form, primary users need to provide the required information, including organization details, username, password, official email ID, and mobile number. After completing the form, they should click the ‘Create Account’ button.
