Key Features of the NVSP Portal
- New Voter Registration: Eligible Indian citizens can apply for a new voter ID card directly through the portal, making it easy for first-time voters to get registered.
- Update Voter Details: Citizens can correct or update information on their voter ID card, such as address changes, name corrections, or contact details, without needing to visit a physical office.

There are following steps to login at NVSP Portal:
STEP 1: Visit official website of Election Commission of India https://voters.eci.gov.in.
STEP 2: Click on the “Login” option at the top right of the homepage of website.
STEP 3: Direct link to login https://voters.eci.gov.in/login.
STEP 4: Enter Registered Mobile No. / Email ID / EPIC No.
STEP 5: Enter Password and Captcha Code.
STEP 6: Click on “Request OTP” button.
STEP 7: Enter the OTP received on your mobile or email for verification.
STEP 8: Once verified, click on “Login” to access your account.

General Instructions
- Application Addressing:
The application should be addressed to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of the applicant’s Assembly Constituency (AC) or Parliamentary Constituency (PC) where they reside. If unsure of the AC or PC number and name, the ERO can provide assistance, and applications won’t be rejected due to missing or incorrect constituency details. - Language Flexibility:
Applications can be filled out in English or the official state language, and this choice will not affect application acceptance. - Service Personnel Enrolment:
Service personnel enrolling as a general elector in their place of posting (peace station) should confirm they are not already registered as either a service elector or a general elector elsewhere. - Photograph Requirements:
Attach a recent, unsigned passport-sized color photo (4.5cm X 3.5cm) with a white background. Eyes should be open, and the face fully visible. - Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC):
Upon successful enrolment, the EPIC will be delivered via speed post to the provided address, free of charge.
Detailed Guidelines for Each Item in Application
- Name (Item 1):
Ensure accurate spelling in both English and the state’s official language. If filled in one language, it will auto-transliterate, which may lead to errors. - Relative’s Name (Items 2a & 2b):
For married female applicants, it’s preferable to enter the husband’s name, with inapplicable options struck off. - Aadhaar Details (Item 5):
For identity verification, provide an Aadhaar number, or mark “Not Available” in box 5(b) if you do not have one. - Gender (Item 6):
Tick ‘Male’, ‘Female’, or ‘Third Gender’ clearly. Applicants identifying as Third Gender may also select ‘Male’ or ‘Female’. - Date of Birth (Items 7a & 7b):
Attach a self-attested copy of an age-proof document. If unavailable, include any other age verification document and provide its name in items 7(ii) and (iv) under ‘DECLARATION’. If necessary, applicants may need to appear in person for verification. - Ordinary Residence (Item 8):
Include the complete address with PIN code and a self-attested proof of residence (in the applicant’s or their parents’/spouse’s name). Field verification will be arranged for homeless citizens or sex workers without documentation, if otherwise eligible. Eligible students may enroll at either their parents’ address or their hostel/mess residence. - Declaration:
Complete all parts of the DECLARATION section. Be aware that any false information in this section is punishable under Section 31 of the Representation of People Act, 1950, with possible imprisonment for up to one year, a fine, or both.
